Project 7: Self portrait Project

Self-Portrait Assignment

Self-portraits are what many digital and traditional artists use in their portfolios to express who they are to clients. Self-portraits can also present a Graphic Designer’s style of digital work. For your first assignment in this class, you are to create a self-portrait collage in Adobe Photoshop that represents who you are as a person.

You will need to meet the following criteria:

  • You will need a picture of yourself in the work. Place the image of yourself on a different background or scene.

  • Add at least 4-5 other objects/pictures into the work by using your lasso tool. Also, use your eraser, magic wand or quick selection to make the images look as though they are part of the collage work that you are creating.

  • Use 3 different filters in your collage work somewhere.

  • Edit different pieces (layers) of your collage using Brightness/Contrast, Hue/Saturation, and play with other adjustments.

  • Your work must include Desaturation or “Selective Coloring.”

In addition to this handout is the grading rubric. I will be grading you based on all of your editing as well as skill. Take your time and do NOT rush! If it looks messy, there will be points taken off accordingly.
