Set Up Your Website

1.       Go to http://www.weebly.com/
2.       Enter Name, Email, and Password
3.       Open another browser tab and open your email.
4.       Start typing an email to yourself: Put weebly in the subject line, and type your password in the body of  the email. 
          DO NO SEND YET.
5.       Select “Site”
6.       Choose a theme
7.       Enter a site name in the first box only.

Once the site is created, here are your tasks:

1.       Name your site (Click on the title and rename it)

2.       Create a page called “Portfolio” as a standard page

3.       On the contact page, put in a Contact form so someone can email you.

4.       On the “About Me” page, you will need to add a Header and Text box. Your header should say “About Me”. In the text box, write the following questions and type your answers in complete sentences.

a.       First Name:
b.      City I live in:
c.       Favorite color:
d.      Favorite food:
e.      Favorite TV show or movie:
f.        If I could travel anywhere in the world right now, I would go to:
g.       Favorite band or song:
h.      Favorite season:
i.         What will I be doing in ten years:

5.       Publish your site (This will make it live for the world to see). Select the first box.

6.       Category for your site should be personal

7.       Verify that you are human.

8.       Click the link to open your live site.

THIS STEP IS IMPORTANT....

9.       Also Copy the link and send it to me in an email...see board for my email address.

  • REMEMBER, I DO NOT RESPOND OR READ EMAILS THAT ARE NOT PROPERLY FORMATTED.
  • YOU MUST INCLUDE A SUBJECT LINE, IN THIS CASE, WEEBLY WEBSITE WILL DO.
  • YOU MUST INCLUDE A PROPER GREETING, HELLO MR. SHUNT, OR DEAR MR. SHUNT.
  • YOU MUST WRITE THE BODY OF THE EMAIL, EX. “I AM SENDING YOU THE WEBSITE I CREATED FOR CLASS. HERE IS THE LINK.”
  • YOU MUST INCLUDE A CLOSING, EX. “ HAVE A GREAT DAY, LARRY” OR “THANKS, LARRY”

10.       Never use all capitals in your email.
11.       Send yourself an email with your website address, your username, your password and include weebly in the subject. 
I DO NOT HAVE ACCESS TO THESE ACCOUNTS. IF YOU LOSE YOUR LOGIN AND CANNOT RETRIEVE IT, YOU WILL HAVE TO REDO YOUR SITE.

I CANNOT GRADE YOUR WEBSITE IF YOU DO NOT EMAIL IT TO ME.


I WILL NOT GRADE A WEBSITE THAT HAS INAPPROPRIATE MATERIAL. 


NO GANG STUFF, DRUGS, ALCOHOL, TOBACCO, etc.

  • Home Page:
    1. Add an image that relates to your interests
    2. Add a short message that says something along the lines of..."Welcome to my website. Please look around."
  • Contact Me
    1. Add a standard page titled "Contact Me" (use capitalization)
    2. Add a "Contact Form from the Build Options on the left (do not fill this in. It is for me or someone else to email you from the website)
  • Portfolio
    1. Your projects should include, Line Name, Color Shape Name, and Frog Pen Tool.
    2. The first two listed above should have questions with them.
  • About Me
    1. Answer the questions below about you so people can learn something interesting about you. You can copy and paste them into your website.
  • All other stuff: 
    1. Delete any extra or unused pages. 
    2. Make sure your portfolio is in one place and you don't have images and projects in multiple locations
    3. Everything posted should be appropriate.
    4. Keep in mind that parents often come in angry if a student is not doing well. I simply pull up the websites and compare them to a student that has been completing all the work. I point out the assignments on my site and where and how to get extra help. I check absences and discuss those things. 
    5. I do not offer extra credit assignments. You can do the regular work for points.
